As the Spring Festival approaches, the cold of the year is met with deep affection. On February 10, the “Yijiaren” volunteer team of Jiangsu Enjoy Better Health Charity Foundation set off again, walking into Hushu Subdistrict and multiple communities in Nanjing to present more than 20 elderly residents with Spring Festival gift packs and sincere festive wishes.
A Gift Pack, a Piece of “Audible” Care
In a household in Hushu Subdistrict, a volunteer handed a festival gift and a 600-yuan red envelope to Aunt Wu, saying earnestly, “It’s been getting much colder lately. Put on more clothes when going out in the morning and evening, and pay attention to safety when heating your home.” Aunt Wu replied with a smile, “My heart warms up as soon as you come.”
Through simple questions like “How is your health?” and “Is there anything we can do to help?”, the volunteer team learned about the elderly’s recent physical conditions and life difficulties. This warm care also made the elderly open their hearts.
When it was time to leave, some uncles and aunts insisted on seeing the volunteers off to the alley entrance, and some prepared fresh fruits and vegetables from their own homes for them to take. This kindness and love dispelled the cold of winter.
Public Welfare Support: From Festival Condolences to a Long-distance Love Run
